Awarded 'Best Places to Stay in England and Ireland' by the National Geographic Traveler magazine in April 2010, Ballaghboy Lodge Farm is situated within easy reach of the main N4 Dublin to Sligo Road, on a quiet lane located off the Curlews Drive, a recognised scenic route, and yet only a few minutes' drive from Ballinafad village. In the village there is a Church, Post Office/Shop and Pub with boat hire, a Field Study and Adventure Centre and newly constructed safe playground and wildlife trail. If you enjoy walking, our farm is located on a mapped Historical Trail. In addition to our accommodation, we host musical events and traditional house concerts.
Dublin Airport is 2.5 hours away and Knock International Airport is 45 minutes drive. Car hire at competetive rates are available at both airports. Should you prefer not to drive the closest Mainline Railway Station to us is Boyle with a regular service ftom Dublin Connolly Mainline Station. In addition we are extremely fortunate to be associated with an excellent tour guide, John Wilmott, who can provide transport should you wish to explore the North West during your stay. Flights to and from Dublin Airport and Ireland West Airport Knock are provided by Ryanair. Aer Lingus also operate flights to and from London Gatwick to Dublin and Knock and Ferry Crossings from Holyhead in Wales to Dublin can be organised through Stena Line and Irish Ferries.
Available locally are fishing, horse riding, golf, hiking and cycling, together with numerous places of historical interest and beautiful unspoilt beaches.
